for the woman who taught us everything

Cheryl Savill

Founder. Mother. Grandmother. Fighter. Friend.
The strongest woman anyone has ever met, and the kindest.

her story

From Rhodesia, with love

A life that has crossed continents, raised a family, built businesses, and lifted everyone she meets.

A warm African landscape representing Cheryl's roots

Cheryl was born in Rhodesia, journeyed to the United Kingdom when she became a mother, and eventually returned to South Africa, where she has built her life and her legacy.

Her father came from a military background, and you can feel that quiet discipline in the way she carries herself. The second of four, with an older brother and two younger sisters now scattered between South Africa and the United States, she comes from a family of fiercely independent spirits, each one capable, each one strong, who all share the same quiet certainty that whatever needs doing, will get done.

Her mother was one of the most creative souls you could ever meet, always with a big smile and a heart of gold, a warmth that Cheryl carries with her every single day.

She dreams, one day, of waking up in Australia. Whether or not the journey ever happens, the dream itself is so beautifully her, always reaching, always imagining what's next.

a builder of things

Four companies. One unstoppable founder.

From Logistics Director, to Financial Director, to Founder & CEO, Cheryl has never waited for a door to open. She simply built her own.

Until 2000

Venture Computer

Financial Director through the company's growth, and through the sale that became what is known today as Lexmark in South Africa.

Early 2000s

Born to Bead

Founded a beading business that blossomed into multiple franchises across the country, before she gracefully closed it as the trend ran its course.

Mid 2010s

Katie's Salon

Opened a hair salon with a tranquil backroom where a massage therapist worked alongside the hairdresser. A small, calm corner of the world where people came to be looked after.

Then & now

Navworld

An owner of Navworld, a leading South African distributor of Garmin and a growing line-up of other trusted brands, Cheryl is quite literally in the business of helping people find their way. Fitting, for someone who has always known exactly where she's going.

"If she says she'll do something, she's already started it in her head."

strong as a lion

She has been through everything, and chosen love every time

A joyful watercolor bouquet for Cheryl

She has fought breast cancer, and beaten it. Twice. She has carried herself through a broken shoulder, through being hit by a car, through chemotherapy, through the news that the cancer has now moved into her bones.

And through all of it, she has been the one looking after everyone else. She has sat with friends through their illnesses, opened her home to those who needed care, walked alongside people fighting their own battles with cancer.

"She would never admit she's not doing amazing, but everyone who knows her would tell you she's the strongest woman they have ever met."
